Age} 16 (Jeanne is 19 and Laeticia is 16 in canon)
History} History
AU History}

In this world, the Great Grail War never occurred and Jeanne D'Arc was never summoned as Ruler or any other class. Laeticia thus lived as a normal girl, brought up by a normal family, and attended a pretty normal parochial boarding school in France. The only thing that made her stand out was the fact that she was more religious than most of her classmates. Her grades were average, and while she had been interested enough in fencing to join the school fencing team for a year, she was not interested or skilled enough to stay on the team. Unknown to Laeticia, her family had once dabbled in so-called "magic," but they had lost their knowledge generations ago.

However, even in this universe, Laeticia was destined to fight in a Grail War. One day, when she returned from classes, she found a strange man collapsed in her bedroom. Her first instinct was to scream and then get a teacher, but the man was gone when the teacher came. A little while after the teacher left, Laeticia found the man appearing from thin air in front of her. He begged her to be quiet as he started explaining his situation to her.

His name was Siegfried, and he was a Servant of the Saber Class. He was a spirit summoned for the newest Holy Grail War. However, his Master had been killed. He had gone searching for a new Master and finally gotten to this building before running out of energy and collapsing in Laeticia's room. Laeticia, being curious, asked him why he needed a new Master, and the answer was that if he could not find one, he would fade away and die. At this rate, he had only a few minutes left in this world. After hearing this, Laeticia decided she did not want him to die and formed a temporary Contract with him. Her unpracticed magic circuits, inherited from her distance ancestors, were enough to keep him in this world. However, it was a big strain on her body.

Just as the two of them were trying to find out what they were going to do next, Laeticia's school was attacked by Servant Lancer (Saito Musashibo Benkei) and his Master. Feeling responsible for the mess, Laeticia asked Saber to help her defend the school. However, Laeticia will be pulled out of her world right as she and Saber prepare to fight their first battle.

Personality}

Like her canon counterpart, Laeticia is average and well-adjusted. Jeanne was born a peasant in what passed for the middle class at her time, and Laeticia was born into a modern day middle class family. Both of them went along with the lifestyles that were expected from them. Jeanne worked on the farm, while Laeticia attended school and did her chores. Like Jeanne, Laeticia is kind and friendly, though a little on the calm and quiet side. She does better as a listener than a speaker. Due to attending a parochial school, her values lean a little on the conservative side. Her main interest is religion and faith, more so than any other academic or extracurricular hobbies. Her grades are average, though she has a hard time learning math. Again like Jeanne, Laeticia has a fairly big appetite and loves good food. When she gets her food cravings, it is enough to scare people around her into thinking she might be desperate enough to try and take a bite out of them. She is not too naive or sheltered. She understands that the outside world can be a harsh place, and she knows the basics of certain embarrassing subjects, like romance or sex. The main difference between Laeticia as a normal girl and Jeanne as a normal girl is that Jeanne is mostly illiterate, while Laetcia is literate, but has a hard time memorizing the contents of what she reads. The other difference with Jeanne is that while Laeticia is fairly content with the humdrum of everyday life, sometimes she finds herself wishing for a little bit more--some higher calling, perhaps. Unlike Jeanne, she was never called to save France or moderate a Holy Grail War.

However, like Jeanne, Laeticia also shows incredible fortitude when thrust into life-and-death situations. Again like Jeanne, she has a stubborn streak. Though she does not like to argue about details with people, once she becomes resolved to a certain goal, she will never back away from trying to achieve it. Jeanne wanted to save France and guide the Grail War toward a just conclusion; Laeticia wants to protect her classmates and her Servant, Siegfried. Along with that stubbornness comes an almost foolhardy courage. Ruler was willing to sneak into the Red Team's fortress to try and arrest Shirou Kotomine; Laeticia was willing to challenge a more experienced Master to save her school. It is not that she cannot consider the possible consequences, but she is ready to accept them in exchange for protecting people. However, Laeticia lacks Ruler's instincts and is more impulsive in her actions. Like Ruler, Laeticia is stoic in the face of danger. No matter how strong her enemy, she will always face him calmly. While she lacks the commanding presence and natural charisma of Ruler, Laeticia still shows enough fortitude in battle to seem admirable to her comrades.

However, stoicism does not equal harshness. Like Ruler, Laeticia believes that everyone in this world is significant in some way. Thus, she fights to protect and tries not to kill. She is willing to sacrifice herself to save others, even if it is just one person. Her Contract with Saber also stems from this kindness. She did not wish to attain the Grail--she only wished to save his life for the time being. She fights Lancer's team only to save her school. While Ruler must act the part of a fair and impartial judge, Laeticia is free to get close to people. As a result, she stands firmly on the side of her friends.

Toward her friends, Laeticia is a patient listener, but she will also not tolerate absolute nonsense. Like Jeanne, she has a habit of poking them in the eyes or flicking them in the head if they get into an extremely idiotic mood. This mix of patience and discipline makes her seem like a big sister figure, no matter what the age difference actually is. She acts the same way toward her Servant, Siegfried. She respects him as a hero, but at the same time, she also plays a mentor role to him, given his naivety toward modern customs.

The biggest shared trait between Laeticia and Ruler is their faith. She is a devout Christian and likes to devote at least an hour per day to pray to her God. Like Ruler, her prayers sometimes turn into meditation, putting her into a calm, comfortable state and letting her find answers to problems she faces in her life. Again, like Ruler, she values prayers less for their wording than for her sincerity. Part of this is because neither Ruler nor Laeticia are good at remembering the exact wording of orthodox prayers. And, like her canon counterpart, she values the sincerity of prayers and faith over the gods that said faith is being offered to. While she is a Christian and firmly believes in the existence of the Christian God, she will not argue with those people who believe in other Gods. Unless, of course, that person's faith involves hurting innocent people. However, unlike Ruler, Laeticia has never received any divine revelations, even given the extent of her prayers.

Abilities} Laeticia comes from a magic lineage and thus possesses the potential to do magecraft. She has enough energy to supply a Servant, though at the cost of making herself tired and hungry. However she has never been trained as a magus. She has some skill in fencing due to being on her school's fencing team for a year, but she is far from champion levels.

Rank} Novice
Notes} Laeticia's personality is noted to be almost exactly the same as that of Ruler/Jeanne D'Arc. Because Jeanne possesses her most of the time during Fate/Apocrypha, she isn't really a character in her own right. Therefore, she counts as an AU Jeanne.

Sample}

[As a virgin, Laeticia is confined to the bird cage. However, just because she cannot get out freely does not mean others cannot get to her. Especially when the "other" in question happens to be an animal.]

[A unicorn has taken up residence in her room, and from the looks of it, it has settled down quite nicely. It is chewing on her sheets while look up at her, as if calling to her to pet it.]

Um...hello?

[She gives the unicorn a nervous wave, wondering how to remove it from her chambers. She almost wants to call the slaves over to help, but they are probably all busy with their current work. Besides, she has stressed to them time and again that she is fine with doing her own chores and taking care of herself.]

Ah...you might be in the wrong place. Do you want to come out into the garden with me?

[The unicorn, hearing her voice, comes trotting over. Just as Laeticia thinks it might be listening to her, it bends its head to against her. She gasps in surprise, but she soon sees that the unicorn means no harm. Therefore, she does not attempt to push it away.]

G-good boy...

[She raises a hand to gently stroke its head. With her free hand, she pulls her cellphone out of a pocket and makes a voice call to everyone.]

Excuse me, but can anyone tell me how to get a unicorn out of your room?

[She sighs as the unicorn continues to nuzzle her. What is it with weird things turning up in her room? First Siegfried and now a unicorn. Though, at least, the unicorn wouldn't need a contract.]

[...Or would it?]
